On November 7, 2025, DC Education Research Collaborative director Dara Zeehandelaar Shaw testified before the Committee of the Whole of the Council of the District of Columbia, at their hearing on Academic Achievement in the District of Columbia. The testimony described the transformational power that education research can have on academic achievement for DC’s students and the conditions that can make that transformation possible: good data, rigorous research, and collaboration across the ecosystem of agencies, researchers, and educators.
