The Advisory Committee, which determines the Collaborative's research agenda, is made up of representatives from the DC education community. The 21 members are parents and students, teachers and school leaders, and representatives of DC government and educational agencies.

New members are selected annually when vacancies arise, and they serve one-, two-, or three-year terms. New members are generally selected by December and begin their terms in January.
