Our research agenda—developed jointly by educators, families, and researchers—has seven focus areas that reflect the DC education community’s goals for its students and systems. These focus areas guide all our research. 

1. an antiracist system where all schools are places where students flourish
2. adequate access to and equitable distribution of resources
3. equity in learning outcomes
4. students prepared for success after high school
5. school environments that support students’ social, emotional, physical, and academic well-being
6. a high-quality, diverse educator workforce
7. schools that are responsive to family, caregiver, and community needs
